A Prayer of Respect

To the old ones,

to the ancestors and spirits who have known this land long before my time,

I acknowledge you with humility.

I stand here as a guest upon your country.

I recognise the deep memory held in the soil, the wind, the trees, and the waters.

I know this place has been walked, cared for, and loved across countless generations.

I speak now with an open heart.

If my actions have caused disturbance, knowingly or unknowingly,

I ask that it be met with understanding rather than harm.

No disrespect was intended.

My hands worked with care, and my purpose was to create shelter, safety, and life.

May the homes that now rest upon this land sit gently.

May they belong without offence.

May they carry peace within their walls.

I ask that those who come to live here are welcomed.

May they feel grounded, protected, and at ease.

May laughter, rest, and kindness grow in these spaces.

May this place continue to be one of balance rather than taking.

I offer gratitude for the land’s patience and resilience.

I honour what was here before, what is here now,

and what will continue long after me.
